I have searched all over and I cannot find a direct answer. How do I edit the css code of a wiki? I want to change the background of a wiki I am an admin of, and I can find a plethora of resources on how to change settings like this, but not one of them actually tells you how to access those settings.
Which wiki are you on and I can point you to the Wiki Manager who can assist you?
Thank you both; I finally understood how to access the case of a wiki. The actual mediawiki program itself was confusing me and I thought I needed that, which is where my confusion came in, though I did eventually figure it out last night. The wiki is for Dual Universe.
Thank you; I'm going to ask two more questions here which are related to css and not specifically that wiki, though I intend to use them there. I am posting them here because they are specific and I assume they'll reach a broader audience.
First off, when the cursor is hovered over the two dropdown menus on the top, "share" and "more", the menus (particularly the share menu) drop down very awkwardly. The "more" menu moves over the entire header that it is a part of, and the "share" menu displays everything horizontally. On lower resolutions, these menus cause things on the page to shift around. How do I control the way these menus are displayed?
My second question is, within the main text of an article, there are multiple levels of headers. There is a title, then sub-header 1, sub-header 2, etc. Each one of these, even down to the smaller ones like 4 and 5, have options next to them to "(edit | edit source)" when they are in an article. Next to small headers with limited text below them, these can get very unpleasant and completely unnecessary. Is there a way to change how these are displayed?
Thank you to any who read my questions, and I hope someone can help!
Oh, oh la la. Hi ATMLV. From looking at this hover for the vector menu, I'd say this is borked. I had inherited this wiki (with a bunch of others) a while back from another manager and I'm slowly (snail-like, literally) working myself through them. Let me see, if I can give it a fix tomorrow. It's probably the safest way to get the original code from our standard load out. I also like to suggest to switch the current main page design to our new 2 or 3 col responsive layout at some point.
Concerning the second question. Well, you could simply add __NOEDITSECTION__ to the pages. Not sure if that is, what you're asking for.
What is currently the best way to get a new wiki for an old game onto Gamepedia?
I recently started playing Port Royale 3 and there WAS the beginnings of a wiki for it (an IGN site) but it was a ghost. Almost nothing was there. It looks as if one person started it but never went back and added anything.
I tried to do some updates (and I'll continue for a bit) but the site doesn't support a lot of features very well.
The interstitial and columnar ads use up a LOT of real-estate. Sortable wiki tables aren't supported. Image uploading requires using an "improved" editor and every time one switches to it it does a lot of reformatting that I don't personally like.
I'd love to see a Port Roayale 3 Wiki on Gamepedia
Another question for anyone in particular, is there a reason a regular user wouldn't be allowed to add external links to a page?
There's an abuse filter that prevents new users from adding links since there's so many spam bots out there. They just need to make a handful of edits and then they won't run into that problem anymore.
I would like to know how to translate the "EU Cookie Consent" bar. This message shows up on every wiki page for every EU-based user and is displayed only in English. I couldn't find any information concerning localization for this message.
Thanks for replying about the external links thing, now I know! As for the post I'm quoting, the reason I ask is my profile lists me as an administrator, but when you click on the title on my profile I am not on the list. So either I need to not be listed as an administrator on my profile, or I need to be listed as an administrator on the list.
