One of the most anticipated games of 2016, Battlefield 1, released last week, and the feedback so far has been phenomenal. In the game, players experience missions and skirmishes inspired by World War I, fighting across all fronts in a globe-trotting campaign and battling their friends online. How is this new title different from other FPS games? Battlefield 1 takes EA’s flagship FPS franchise back to its roots, putting the focus on a historical conflict for the first time since 2009’s Battlefield 1943. The development team at DICE have gone to great lengths to ensure that the game is an intricately detailed, painstakingly researched depiction of real world events.

This means that the C96 Carbine in your hands will look and sound close to the weapon used in real life. The FT light tank you pilot will handle just as the real-life version did. Even the Trench Knife you’re outfitted with is based on real equipment from the early 20th century.

These tools will be indispensable as you tackle the six distinct chapters that comprise the game’s epic campaign. Once you’ve polished your skills in single-player, you can test your mettle online, where up to 64 players can do battle across nine maps and six modes. Competitive play spans traditional game types like Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Domination, as well as brand new modes like War Pigeons, where players fight for control of birds to call in artillery strikes.

Battlefield 1 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more information on how to master campaign mode, dominate your competition online, and much more, head to the Battlefield 1 Wiki.
