Riot’s incredibly popular and wildly successful MOBA, League of Legends, is a fun and nuanced game that mixes strategy and action to for a uniquely frenetic experience. It can be a difficult game to play, though, as there are so many things to know, from item builds to champion synergies, that it can be tough to really compete in Normal PVP for a beginner or for more advanced players alike. The best way to learn is by playing. The second best way to learn is checking out some of these YouTube channels.

1. Phylol

Phylol’s videos often contain some of the most interesting and insightful looks into the smaller, more nuanced parts of the game. His forte is ADC, and his Ultimate ADC Guide Series is full of explainers and breakdowns of  the role as whole. He also has some great individual tutorials and insights for specific characters in there role.

2. Redmercy

Another YouTuber with a wealth of useful gameplay knowledge, Redmercy doesn’t specialize as hard as other folks. His Did You Know? illuminates both mechanical tricks and synergies not covered in a champion spotlight, and discusses lore and production related trivia and rumors to help flesh out the champion.

3. Epicskillshot

Epicskillshot is a great channel to visit if you’re looking to find videos of pro games from the various leagues across the world. When I can’t catch a stream within an event window, this is usually the channel I go to first to catch up on what I missed.

4. BoxBox

The majority of Albert Zheng aka BoxBox’s videos are Riven related, and since he’s one of the best Riven players on YouTube, it makes him a bit of an authority on the champion. Even if you don’t play Riven, watching someone play Riven so much can be educational in other ways. Chances are, there is a video in his channel where he’s played against one of your mains. The little map tricks he employs can, a lot of times, be pretty luminary for anyone.

5. Skin Spotlights

It might seem strange to have a YouTube channel focused just on showcasing the things like skins, but anyone who’s paid RP for an underwhelming skin based simply on really cool splash art probably wishes they stopped at Skin Spotlights first. Being able to see the skins in action and check out all the new animations and fidelity in game, really helps make more informed decisions when choosing to jazz things up.

6. Gaming Curios

Gaming Curios is a very cool channel full of great commentary on many different aspects of the game, but if there was any one video that made the channel a must visit, its their League of Legends Historical Timeline 2006-2016. It’s a thorough and highly accurate breakdown of all of the games big milestones, including the first World Championships, the first total rework of a champion, etc.
